Quebec’s #1 Political Debate Show Extended to 120 Minutes  Starting August 13

Montreal, July 18, 2018 – Viewers will be pleased to learn that Quebec’s most-watched political debate show, La Joute, returns to LCN August 13 at 3 p.m. with new and prestigious collaborators. And to cover all the political issues of importance to Quebecers, La Joute will now air in a 120-minute format – 2 hours of debate, analysis and opinions from a solid team of contributors, leading up to the provincial elections in Quebec, the mid-term elections in the U.S. and the federal election campaign across Canada.

Hosted by Paul Larocque, the show will enter its third season with new, high-caliber participants that will surely grab viewers’ attention. They include former New Democratic Party leader Thomas Mulcair, former PQ minister and parliamentary leader Stéphane Bédard, as well as Journal de Montréal and Journal de Québec political analyst Jonathan Trudeau. The former president of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec, Régine Laurent, and the former mayor of Longueuil, Caroline St-Hilaire, will also be returning to the panel, along with the head of the National Assembly’s Investigative Bureau, Antoine Robitaille. Journalist Richard Latendresse will also join the show on a daily basis from TVA studios in Washington.

Since last spring, LCN’s ratings have reached new heights,” explains Serge Fortin, Vice President, TVA Nouvelles. “This success is attributable to our capacity to offer Quebecers the best content and programming, season after season. The news station has become an authority in the field of politics, thanks to shows like ‘La Joute’ and ‘Mario Dumont’. More than ever, we are committed to covering every facet of municipal, provincial, federal and U.S. politics.”

In addition, viewers will be able to join the conversation live with the La Joute team via the hashtag #lajoute.
