The Stanley Cup Playoffs on TVA Sports:
A Hit with Viewers
Montreal, June 12, 2018 – TVA Sports is proud to announce the results of its Stanley Cup Playoffs coverage, which attracted large numbers of fans both to the games themselves and to the station’s original daytime and night-time programming.
Up to 1,171,000 fans1 tuned in to the last playoff game on TVA Sports, corresponding to a market share of 55%1. On average, 757,000 viewers (32.6% market share)1 stayed glued to their sets to watch the Washington Capitals win their very first Stanley Cup against the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
The five games of this final league-championship round drew an average of 699,000 fans (27.2% market share)2 – an increase from the average 680,000 viewers for the first five games of the 2017 finals (24.8% market share).3
Thanks to these highly positive results, TVA Sports maintained its viewership success and finished the spring season as Quebec’s most-watched sports station. During the playoffs as a whole, TVA Sports registered a 5% market share4 – 4 times higher than its main rival.
TVA Sports is now inviting hockey fans to tune in for the 2018 NHL Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m., followed by the 2018 NHL Draft on Friday, June 22 at 6 p.m. and the opening of the 2018 NHL Free Agent Market on Sunday, July 1 at 11 a.m.
